Cancer treatment expenses

Hello my name is Fr. Tom Goodwin, I am a 73 year old retired priest of the Diocese of Corpus Christi, Texas. In August of 2021 I was diagnosed with prostate cancer and as a result I had a radical prostatectomy and we thought that was that. In May of 2022 tests revealed that the cancer had returned as stage IV metastatic prostate cancer. So, I started on hormone therapy, but was told that “we will just slow it down”! I decided to go up to Houston to M.D. Anderson Cancer Center and after many more tests the cancer was shown to not be in my pelvic bone, but on top of it thus making me a candidate for radiation treatment. After more tests it was decided that because of size and placement of cancer I would only need a short course of intense radiation. Best news ever. I was told this would eliminate the cancer spot – they were careful not to say cure. However, If I remain on the hormone therapy for another six months and my PAS remains <0.1 there is very little chance the cancer will spread – the word the doctors used was “managed”.
My Insurance and the Infirm Priests Fund of the Diocese of Corpus Christ has covered all the tests and treatments and with the support and prayers of everyone my spirits have been high through all of this. What has not been covered is all the out of pocket expenses of food, gas, lodging, and house/dog sitting – walking while I have been in Houston for the previous trips for the tests and diagnoses. Now I must return for 5 days of radiation treatment and my finances are already pretty stretched. I am asking for help with the previous expense of the trips to Houston and subsequent stays. A very generous couple have graciously offered to pay for my lodging while I undergo the radiation treatment – but that still leave the food, gas, and house/dog sitting – walking. If you can help, I would greatly appreciate it, if not, I will take all the prayers I can get.
