Cottons Medical Expenses

One minute you’re holding your healthy pup up in the sky to take cute photos, and the next you’re taking her to the emergency room. You never think you’ll have to make a GoFundMe for your pet until you do.

In the middle of the night, February 9th, I woke up to Cotton hacking, but I didn’t think anything of it because sometimes she does that. I woke again at 6:15 AM and heard her hacking more, so I checked on her, and that’s when I saw she was having a hard time breathing and she was wheezing. I checked her gums, which were ever so slightly less pink than normal. I made her a vet appointment for 1:00 PM today; however, when I checked her gums again two hours later, I felt alarmed by the discoloration and rushed her to Veterinary Emergency Group on S Lamar in Austin, TX.

If you know me, then odds are you know Cotton and how much she means to me. With that being said, I would do anything for her; however, I was not quite prepared for what the monetary value of that would be. Sadly, Cotton has been diagnosed with congestive heart failure and I want to hold onto her for as long as possible.

The current value of her stay at VEG is $5,000 for 24 hours, but 48 hours has been recommended. Cotton is having a very hard time breathing, so it’s in her best interests to remain in the oxygen box. Also, to know what stage she is in and to get her on the best treatment plan, we need to consent to a stenographer, which is another $940. If you can help out, anything is greatly appreciated.

EDIT: At 6:30 AM on February 10th, the vet at VEG called me to inform me that Cotton has been on room air for the last 5 hours! The vet also said she is responding well to treatment! Cotton is scheduled to have her echo done later this morning/afternoon. Thank you all so much for your support!
