JJ's School Trip: A Path to Personal Growth

Hello. My name is JJ.

I am about to enter high school and have started to realize how education extends outside of the classroom. Experience of traveling to different locations helps us to not only better understand past events in our country’s history but connect first-hand with people who have lived through them – and feel what cannot be learned from books, photos, or videos. Unfortunately, I do not get a lot of chances as a teenager to travel and have these types of personal experiences.

Now, I have an opportunity – and I desperately need your help!

In June 2025, I have a chance to travel with several of my friends and classmates for a school trip (through School Tours of America) to Washington, DC, and New York City. During these five days, from sunrise to sunset, we will have opportunities to have many experiences, a few of my favorites being talking to survivors at the 9/11 memorial, looking up at the Washington Monument, walking through the Lincoln Memorial, honoring our soldiers at Arlington Cemetery, taking a boat around the Statue of Liberty, and gazing at the lights of Broadway!

It will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience for me to travel independently, take personal responsibility for my learning about the world we live in, and find my way of giving back as I continue to learn and grow. I know this experience will help make me a better person and develop deeper relationships with my friends as we share this time together.

This trip would mean a lot to me, and your support shows me that I am on the right track and how much you care about my education and my future.
