Support Luis’s Recovery After Cycling Accident
On March 14th, local friend and avid cyclist Luis Pagan was finishing his usual Saturday endurance training ride in Key Biscayne. After coming down the Rickenbacker Bridge, he accidentally hit something on the bike lane and unfortunately lost control of the handlebar, causing him to fall off the bike at high speed. Other cyclists in the area noticed he was hurt and offered immediate assistance. Paramedics arrived shortly after and transferred him to the ER at Jackson Memorial Hospital. Luis was seen by multiple doctors and specialists, including an orthopedic surgeon and trauma team, who confirmed he has a fractured hip, dislocated shoulder, sprained wrist, and multiple skin burn lacerations.
Luis recently started a job that requires long drives and meeting with clients around South Florida. Unfortunately, he will not be able to fully manage his work duties for a while. His health insurance will cover a portion of the medical bills after meeting the deductible, but he does not have short-term disability insurance. He will need to manage ongoing medical exams and treatment over the next few months.
Luckily, Luis did not suffer any head injuries. However, CT scans show that he will need further examination (MRI) and treatment for his injured shoulder and fractured hip. After being discharged from the hospital, he has been instructed not to put any weight on his right leg for at least six weeks and then it will require several weeks of physical therapy . Please support Luis' recovery journey with any donations so that he can get a speedy recovery and back on his feet. The funds raised will go toward medical bills, living expenses, and therapeutic items to support his recovery.
Your support is truly appreciated, The whole Cycling community will be happy for your help.
