September 1, 2017, Rebekah and Freddy went to Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, GA and were prepped for kidney surgery. Rebekah matched as a donor for Freddy and felt the tug in her heart to donate. Right before they were rolled in, they were visited by the Piedmont Marketing Team who had heard about Rebekah and Freddy’s story. They asked for permission to Facebook LIVE the entire surgery for the purpose of raising awareness for donors and recipients. They consented and the surgery was posted on Facebook where it gathered over 45K views. 11Alive News took the story and posted the video on their personal Facebook page. They also featured Rebekah and Freddy on television the day after the surgery. You can watch the video here:

Freddy is doing remarkably well. All of his levels are back to normal and he and his wife Jamie are living life to its fullest!
Earlier this Spring, Rebekah was attending a church conference in Charlotte, NC when she was suddenly rushed by ambulance to the nearest hospital. She was experiencing high blood pressure and pain on her left side. This raised concerns for the EMTs and doctors post kidney removal. They performed many tests but all of her results came back normal. Her blood pressure came down and they sent her home with a “best guess diagnosis” of ovarian cyst rupture.
Two weeks after this, she was at home and woke up in the same pain. She was again rushed to the nearest hospital where they performed many more tests. Still, her tests came back normal. Nothing seemed to be wrong other than the excruciating pain she was experiencing. She was again sent home empty handed – nothing to go on and no diagnosis.
Rebekah is following up regularly with her doctors to help prevent this from happening again and hopes to gain answers about what was happening to her in these two instances. Many of her medical bills have been covered by state-funded grants that she was able to apply for. But because she was out of state when her first emergency happened and she was uninsured, she was not eligible for financial assistance. This is where she needs your help!
Rebekah is an active member of Life Church International. Serving on staff for the past two years, she remains involved in the Worship Arts Community, the Women’s Team, and serves as the assistant to LCI’s Youth Pastor. Rebekah is currently enrolled at Lee University pursuing her degree in Ministry Leadership. She plans to pastor and mentor others into their God-given destinies.
