UPDATE: On Trevor:
Yesterday was a better day!!
Trevor had surgery to repair his liver and spleen…the doctors were able to fix both and stop the internal bleeding. They lowered the sedation, and he responded to requests to squeeze their hands and wiggle his toes. His lungs continue to remain collapsed. Today the plan is to lower the sedation and remove his breathing tube. If he is unable to breathe on his own, they will put the tube back in and sedate him for a few more days.
The broken bones, however, are next on their list. Although, his shoulder; ankle and ribs, are broken, they will not require surgery. His legs are both broken in several places and are being supported with rods. Both knees are both broken and the doctors have yet to indicate how they will be fixed. The staples used to close the rest of the cuts throughout his body will be removed, soon.
As you can see the list of injuries is long, but the doctors have addressed and fixed the life-threatening injuries. The road to a full recovery is a long way in the distance, we are thankful that he is here and able to make the journey. I cannot stress enough, how grateful the family is for your continued prayers, calls, and messages.
I've received several messages, offering to create a Go Fund Me for Trevor, Yvonne and Cole. After much discussion with the family, I decided to go ahead and create one. At this point, the length of time required for Trevor to be well enough to travel back to PEI to heal will be extensive. Yvonne and Cole will remain in Edmonton until such time. As we are all aware, expenses add up quickly and Trevor will not be working for an unknown amount of time. So, any help you could provide would be so very much appreciated. The Go Fund Me is linked and for those who want to donate through E-transfer, Cole's email is [email redacted].
Thank you to all who have reached out and continue to send prayers for Trevor. For those who are not aware, Trevor Sinclair was involved in a motor vehicle accident in Fort McMurray on Saturday evening.
While driving back to the camp after grabbing a meal with his buddy Kirk, they lost control of the truck after hitting a patch of black ice. The truck rolled numerous times, with Trevor being ejected from the truck. The hospital in Fort Mac was not equipped to provide the level of care that he required, so the decision was made to have him air lifted to a hospital in Edmonton.
When he arrived in Edmonton, the doctors met with his family and told them that he has many internal injuries and numerous broken bones. The doctor’s focus was on the internal injuries and what was causing the internal bleeding, so they operated last night. His body has been hurt in so many places that the doctors want to give his body some time to heal before they operate again tomorrow to fix his lungs, liver and spleen. After this surgery, the orthopedic surgeon will decide when to fix his broken bones. He remains in an induced coma and will continue to be until such time as the doctors feel that he is ready.
His mom Yvonne, and our son Cole, flew to Edmonton on Sunday and will remain with Trevor for the foreseeable future. The family are very grateful for the messages, and phone calls. They request that you please keep Trevor in your prayers!
