Hi my name is Lianne,
Our worst nightmare became reality when Odin, our loving family cat returned home with massive trauma to his face. We don’t know what has caused this and I don’t want to think that it was a deliberate act.
We have pet insurance which insures us up to £3000 per condition. We pay 20% of the total cost as our excess.
We took him to our local vet and they were optimistic about his injury. They thought it was a simple fracture that would be fixable by them wiring front of his jaw. Total costs were within our claim amount.
However, he went in for his operation and the news is not good. He has a multiple breaks in his bottom jaw and will require a specialist dental clinic in Edinburgh to be able to fix it. Estimated costs are between £3000-£6000.
The vet couldn’t believe that even though he is in significant discomfort and pain he is still eating food and being affectionate.
This makes the ultimatum so much harder for us to bare…It’s either go to Edinburgh or say goodbye.. and we are heartbroken.
We have some savings that we can use but we just simply don’t have the money to be able to afford a procedure above £4000.
I’m very hesitant about creating this go fund me. But I am just doing everything I can think of to try and save our family pet.
Unfortunately we can’t get a specific quote on the procedure as they will only know what needs done at the time of the operation.
Im hoping it won’t be more than £5000/£6000 and I will try to be as transparent as I can once I know this.
so based on this we are trying to raise between £2000 and £3000.
He will come home under heavy sedation tonight and by tomorrow I think we will need to make a decision. Life is cruel sometimes and I'm just trying to do the best I can for him and our family.
