To my family, friends and community:
I am an 18 year old survivor of sexual abuse who is preparing to face the man who robbed me and my little brother of our childhoods and has caused us years of emotional anxiety. After many months of investigating and legal maneuvers, the trials are finally going to happen. The first trial will be held in Bend and a second trial is scheduled to convene in Tillamook. The reason for two trials is because the abuse took place in multiple counties in Oregon; Deschutes and Tillamook counties are just the first to prosecute him for his crimes. I was three years of age when the abuse began.
Finances are a problem because I will not be able to work for several weeks in September and several weeks in December (nor will my mother) because of the trials. My mother will be accompanying me and my younger brother to the trials. The man that abused us is my ex-stepfather and my brothers biological father. He is the head pastor of a Gresham church. Before becoming a pastor, he was a police officer in Tillamook. He was firred from the department for misconduct, propositioning a woman while on duty, and distruction of evidence. Our abuser currently faces 59 counts of Measure 11 sex crimes.
We are now confronted with additional expenses for travel, food and lodging to Bend and Tillamook. There are no programs to help victims pay for expenses to be present at their trials. This is something my brother and I have looked forward to since we first came forward to seek justice. This is also something we have dreaded since our first disclosures. I'm overwhelmed by the whole situation and would really appreciate any amount you can give to my campaign. I expect and look forward to this child molester being found guilty of his multiple crimes against my brother and me and be put away for a very long time.
This is not easy for me to share my story but I could use your love and support to get through the next several months! Thank you!
