JJ's rehab fund

On 5/30/19, at 6:31 pm, my daughter Jessica was in an accident with an uninsured driver who failed to yield to oncoming traffic. She hit the vehicle doing roughly 40 mph, resulting in a broken leg (Pilon fracture) and injured ribs, along with some severe chest and abdominal bruising (thank God for seatbelts!)

She was taken to Alaska Native Medical Center, as they are the only trauma 2 center in Anchorage. A HUGE thank you goes out to the men and women at ANMC who have kept Jessica safe, and lifted her spirits daily. 

Over the past 14 days, Jessica has had 5 surgeries as a result of the accident and the complications that developed, such as compartment syndrome. Jessica will need at least two more surgeries; one of which being the “fix”, where they will place pins, plates and wires. It is estimated that she will be non weight baring for 90 days, and then has a long road of physical therapy ahead of her. About 12 months of PT will be needed. 

The hope of this gofundme is to raise the funds to allow her to focus on her recovery, and not worry about a lack of income and bills for the next several months. The funds will also go towards specialized medical equipment, such as a wheelchair and shower chair so she can maintain as much independence as possible during her recovery.

Jessica will be unable to work for at least 4 months, but potentially, and likely, it will be much longer. As of 6/12/19, Jessica has still not been able to have the final surgeries, as the swelling in her foot and ankle is preventing the fix surgery.
