My sister Sherri was the executive director of housekeeping for a well known hotel franchise in Indian Harbour Beach Florida. She was responsible for supervising a staff of over 40 employees as well as coordinating facilities maintenance. She has been with the company for 26 years, working six days a week. Early this year, she was diagnosed with multiple myeloma cancer after having problems with pain in her hip and right thigh. She under went surgery at the Moffitt Center in Tampa and had a pin placed in her thigh. She had gone through radiation treatment and physical therepy while still working. In June she had severe back pain and went to the hospital where more bone lesions were discovered in her spine. She was no longer able to work. She has since gone through chemo therepy and has successfully reduced her cancer count but multiple myeloma is an incurable disease and and continues to come back and requires maintenance treatment to keep in remission. While her chemo treatments have been successful in reducing the cancer, she has developed severe pain as a result of her treatments that is irreversable and has to be controlled with drugs. She is striving to gain back her strength in order to go back to work part time to help pay for her mounting medical bills. She had Medicare at the time of her diagnoses but the 20% not covered has accrued to an unmanageable amount. She has depleted her savings and is tapping out her credit cards in order to stay afloat.
I have started this fund raising campaign to help her cope with her financial situation. It is with  her reluctant permission that I do so. She has been an independent person who has handled her affairs on her own throughout her life but this is a life changing event that cannot be overcome without help from others. After taking her to weekly chemo sessions, I have learned so much about cancer and it's devastating effect on the lives of victims and their families. This is definitely a "pay it forward" disease that we all are somehow touched with, be it as a victim or through someone we know and love.
Sherri's journey forward will be faced with many difficult physical issues for which I can do little to help. Hopefully, with your help, I can ease her financial situation a little and help her focus on her health and living a brighter future.

I thank everyone in advance who find it in their heart to offer whatever amount they can contribute to her effort for recovery.
I wish the best of health to everyone and pray, with new and humble understanding, to those that have been touched by this devastating desease. New and exicting advances are being made every day in fighting cancer. Let's not give up hope!
