No Scholarship, But With Your Help, I Can Chase This Dream

Hi, my name is Jinhyun Kang.

I’m a South Korean NCAA Division 1 football player,

and I’m training to represent my country in the 2027 NFL IPP Program.

But I didn’t grow up dreaming of football.

In 2019, I came to Texas and joined the football team at Pantego Christian Academy just to learn English and survive high school.

I didn’t know the rules. I didn’t even know the name of the equipment.

But I stayed. I trained. I fell in love with the game.

Since then, I’ve fought my way through New Mexico Military Institute,

Laney College in California, and now I’m finally here — playing D1 football in the U.S.

❌ I’m not on scholarship.

As an international student, my chances of getting financial aid or scholarships are very limited. I’m here on a student visa, which means I legally can’t work off-campus.

Even if I could, between full-time studies and Division 1 football — I barely have time to breathe.

My parents have sacrificed everything to get me here.

But I know I can’t rely on them forever.

Now it’s my turn to stand on my own

and that’s why I’m asking for your help.

My Goal

To become the first Korean national to join the NFL IPP Program in 2027.

I want to prove that even a kid who didn’t speak a word of English can go all the way.

Not just for me — but for every international student who’s ever felt like they don’t belong.
