Devastating Fire At Jindo Love Rescue Foster Home

EMERGENCY PLEA FOR HELP: WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT

Friends, this is a desperate plea for help!

On Friday, August 12th 2022, Jindo Love Rescue suffered a complete and total loss from a fire that occurred at our foster facility in Gimhae, South Korea. The cause of the fire is under investigation but the entire building burned.

Before today, we had more than 120 dogs and puppies in our care. 13 did not survive the fire. Our hearts are broken and we are devastated beyond words at their loss. Our entire team is in shock, reeling, but we have immediately gone to work, caring for survivors and rounding up loose dogs.

Most of our dogs are safe and receiving treatment and 15 dogs were at an offsite facility that was unaffected. Several dogs are in critical condition, suffering from burns, smoke inhalation, and other injuries they received as they escaped the building.

A handful of terrified dogs are loose and missing. There is a massive search effort to find these dogs as nearby slaughterhouses pose a great risk to their safety and add urgency to finding them.

We also only have a very temporary solution for housing the dogs we have found, and we lost all of our supplies, our food, and our vet records. Our foster mom lived at our facility and while she is safe, she lost all of her possessions and her home.

And horribly, many of these dogs were awaiting their flights to their new adopters in the U.S. and we cannot send them on airplanes without proper paperwork and vaccination records, which all burned.

We must first find every dog, then we will focus immediately on rebuilding. We are working to secure a safe place to house our dogs temporarily, and we are incurring huge vet bills with emergency care for those in critical condition.

The money raised here will be used to rebuild our shelter, feed the surviving dogs, pay for veterinary expenses, and purchase new supplies like bowls and beds. Again, all supplies and the building completely burned and we have nothing. We have to buy food, bowls, beds, leashes, everything you can think of.

Our plan:
1. Find every loose dog
2. Secure temporary housing for the survivors
3. Pay for veterinary expenses
4. Replenish all food and supplies
5. Then, rebuild the facility as soon as possible

We desperately need your support to overcome this tragedy! Please help us in any way you can ~ we have so many more lives to save in continuing our mission and right now, our dogs need your help more than ever!
