Jim's Recovery Help Fund the Fight!

Many of my friends and family know that my son Jim had a stroke when he was 14 years old. He was just beginning high school when he woke up one morning, unable to move one side of his body. Jim worked very hard to recover, as he was anxious to return to his teenage antics and activities.

Our lives continued following his stroke, Jim graduated from college and went on to enjoy life on his own.

While working as a Registered Nurse at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak he met and married his wife of sixteen years, Kelly. Kelly is a true saint, devoting her life to at-risk children and families as a social worker.

Jim suffered another stroke on July 30th, 2013. During this time, an MRI revealed that he has been having strokes intermittently since his first stroke in 1981. Sadly, we did not realize that he has suffered from this tragic brain condition. What a fight Jim has been in his entire adult life, not even realizing his own brain was at fault.  Since July of 2013 Jim has been hospitalized five more times for strokes as well as seizures. His coordination, balance, and strength are affected and he suffers from Aphasia, Diabetes, and Critical Illness Myopathy.

On January 19th, 2016 he suffered three seizures which left him unconscious for 11 hours. Through the grace of God, Jim woke up! Sadly he woke up having lost 9 years of his memory. Even worse, Jim now suffers from short-term memory loss; forgetting if he has eaten, taken his medication, knowing what day it is or where he is. He can no longer be left alone.

With Jim's new condition, the best option for Jim's health and recovery, is to give him daily access to  a day care program for adults with short-term memory loss.

We are setting a goal of $30,000.00 to help pay for this care.

Jim has been unable to work since July 2013.  Kelly has been blessed at work with the flexibility to take much-needed time off to take care of Jim.  Sadly this comes at a price, and her salary has been cut in half. When we get Jim into this program, Kelly will be able to go back to work, and hopefully we can all band together to help find a peaceful and manageable path for Jim and Kelly.

Please consider supporting Jim and Kelly, any amount will be greatly appreciated. We would also ask that you share this with your friends.
Thank you for all of your prayers and well wishes!
