Jim's Road to Remission
Donation protected
Jim was diagnosed with Mixed Phenotype Acute Leukemia (MPAL) on June 4, 2016. This means instead of falling into one of the two leukemia categories (myeloid or lymphoblastic), he has a combination of both. This is very rare and also very aggressive.
Unfortunately, we also recently learned that his second round of chemo failed to kill the leukemia. His disease is considered "refractory," which means resistant to treatment.
At this point, Indiana University has told us they've done all they can for him there. They recommend we move him to a different hospital, possibly one where he can enroll in a clinical trial.
We are exploring 3 hospital recommendations from the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, but unfortunately, none are close to us. Depending on what we hear this week, we will need to get Jim to either Houston, Baltimore, or Boston to continue his fight.
Any money donated will be used for medical and travel expenses. Any amount would mean more than you know. Thank you for taking the time to check this out.
