Hello friends and family of Jim Eliasek. Last Saturday my dad Jim suffered a horrible stroke. The past week has been agonizing as we search for answers regarding his health, future, and rehabilitation. He spent several days in the hospital rapidly declining with no answers. Jim has lost movement in the right side of his body, ability to speak and most swallow function leading to a feeding tube. As some may know, 10 years ago he suffered from a stroke and since has been working diligently to lose 85lbs and convert to a healthy lifestyle. This second stroke has been understandably frustrating and hard for him. Fortunately, after a week of waiting the doctor’s were able to find the source of the bleed his brain and develop an appropriate treatment plan.
He will not be able to return to work for a while and my mom has taken on a full time care giver role. As medical bills pile up we are beginning to evaluate the cost of rehab, outpatient therapies needed, and simple day to day expenses. This has taken an immense toll on him as he is the moral support and provider for our family.
Make no mistake my dad is a hard worker and a fighter. He wakes up every day with a positive attitude ready to get up in the chair and start his PT and speech therapy work. He even does dumbbell curls in bed on the days he can’t find the leg strength to stand for the chair. My dad has immense faith in God and the Holy Spirit guiding him through this. He knows with support and the power of prayer he will recover quickly. If monetary donation is outside of your reach we ask that you please keep him and our family in your thoughts and prayers.
Jim is a father, grandfather and husband. He has been a teacher, coach, mentor, faith leader, and friend to many. We ask that your support helps us get him to a place where he can continue to be all of these things for us and others. Thank you for loving and supporting my dad <3
