Yesterday, Jim finally got the long-awaited call for a kidney transplant, which has prompted our little family to raise funds for travel and additional costs. We live in regional Central Queensland, and will be making frequent trips to and from Brisbane over the next two months to support Jim during his recovery and stay by his side.
Jim was born with a congenital heart defect that ultimately developed into heart failure. After years of surgeries/procedures, medications, and hospital stays, he was placed on the heart transplant list in 2017.
In June 2019, Jim received a remarkable gift and a profound final act from a generous organ donor and their family. Sadly, post-transplant, he faced several medical complications, including irreversible kidney damage, which led to kidney failure and a complete dependence on haemodialysis. For the past 5 years, Jim has needed dialysis every 2-3 days while waiting for a kidney transplant.
Jim is an extraordinary person and an incredibly dedicated father. His strength and determination to overcome numerous medical challenges throughout his lifetime make us feel incredibly fortunate to have him in our lives.
As a family, we would like to express our deepest gratitude for everyone’s kindness, generosity and prayers.
Thank you all so much!
All our Love,
Casey (Jim’s wife), Ezra & Eliza (Jim’s kids) xx
