Hello friends, family, and anyone who may be reading this! My name is Maggie and I am the youngest of Jim Neeson’s three daughters. My sisters and I are sharing this post as we humbly ask for support, thoughts, and prayers, as our dad has been struggling with severe medical issues since early February of 2023.

These issues started when Jim suffered three major strokes: two ischemic strokes, one on each side of his body, as well as a hemorrhagic stroke causing internal brain bleeding. The months following his three strokes included several weeks of intensive care units, months of hospital stays, rehabilitation programs and facilities, regular medical treatments, additional diagnoses, and more.

Miraculously Jim has pushed through, taking an awful situation and using it as motivation to grow stronger every single day. We celebrated a brief period of victory upon his discharge from an intense physical rehabilitation facility in early May. He returned home for a few short weeks, showing signs of tremendous growth and improvement, until another unfortunate setback. The day before his 62nd birthday, Jim went into cardiac arrest landing him back in the hospital, in critical care. He has now spent days in the Intensive Care Unit intubated on life support, and he is still being hospitalized as he remains in critical condition.

In the past week, our father has been successfully extubated and is slowly waking up a little more each day. Every day Jim is fighting to recover, but there is a long and uncertain road ahead. The past few months have strained our family in many new and scary ways. Each day is different and we are all working hard to move forward. Jim has been amazing throughout all of this, and pushed through all obstacles the medical teams thought would be problems. Despite all of this, Jim still manages to worry about working, his retirement, and being a burden on the nurses and everyone who has helped him.
