On April 13, 2016, this world tragically lost the most loving, respected, dedicated husband and father with the sudden death of Jimmy Tischler.
To a man like Jimmy, the important things in life were simple: his wife Mary Kate, and his children Rachelle, Marissa, Alex, and Ruby. Everything that Jimmy did was for them. Also important to him was his career as an NYPD Detective in the 79th precinct, his brothers on the force, and people he helped through his work. Jimmy exemplified what it meant to be a man of morals and integrity, and he was truly a real life hero.

In 2011, only two years after buying their dream house, Kate and Jimmy lost everything when their home was completely destroyed by Hurricaine Irene. A carpenter by trade, Jimmy became a man on an unstoppable mission to rebuild a new dream home for his family, with his son Alex learning the trade by his side. In 2013, their new home was finally complete, and Kate named it "The House That Love Built". Shortly thereafter, Kate and Jimmy welcomed Ruby into the world, and Jimmy retired from a long and honored career in the NYPD so he could be a stay at home father for his new "Baby Girl" Ruby. Kate and Jimmy were only at the beginning of their beautiful life together when tragedy struck.
What was most important to Jimmy was providing his four beloved children with the strength of character and the ability to pursue their hopes and dreams. He was proud to have his son Alex by his side as he built their new home, and even prouder when the experience led Alex to pursue a career in engineering, which he will be beginning this fall as he starts college as an engineering major. He also loved watching his daughters Rachelle and Marissa grow into amazing, strong, and talented young women as they each embarked on their own college careers. He loved cooking amazing dinners in "Jimmy's Cafe", where the short list of guests were his wife and kids, and when they were lucky, close family and friends. In short, Jimmy was a tough as nails police detective by day, and a heart of gold family man by night.
The Jimmy Tischler Memorial Fund has been created to honor the life of James M. Tischler, a husband, a father, a loyal friend, an NYPD Detective, and a hero to so many. Our hope is to honor Jimmy and his purpose in the world, by helping his family to continue to pursue the dreams that Jimmy worked so tirelessly to help them achieve.
On behalf of those who love the Tischlers, your generosity and support is so greatly appreciated.
