Surgery is scheduled for June 4th, 2015. This is the third time we have scheduled surgery since December of 2014. . Please see our Updates for the most up to date information on our progress. THANK YOU.
True Love Does Exist! On May 22, 2012, I was diagnosed with Renal Failure. My husband Jimmy, stayed by my side during every second of this life altering event. I have been on dialysis now for the last several years. I am also legally blind in both eyes. I have been legally blind for 4 years after both my retinas detached. I am also diagnosed with Diabetes, Diabetic Retinopathy & Eyeritis. I currently have 20/400 in both eyes. I have had three retina re-attachment surgeries and my vision is not correctable. It will deteriate as time passes. Before my kidney's shut down I was a successful mental health/substance abuse professional. At the peak of my career with Gracepoint Inc., formerly known as Mental Health Care Inc., I had achieved a Supervisory Position for a homeless shelter that housed 25 severely and persistently mentally ill patients. I ran the shelter for two years legally blind with the support and guidance of The LIghthouse For The Blind. I have worked for 16 years in Human Services and I intend on returning to helping others after I receive my "husband's kidney" and get better. My husband, Jimmy, is a hard working loving man. He loves me like he means it! Born in Alabama and raised in the Panama Canal from 2 y/o until 18 y/o. We have been married for 16 years and have what I call a blended family. We have four children between us, and one left at home who is 17 years old. Our other three children live out of town , one serving in our Armed Forces, with their families. Jimmy is 52 and runs a small busniess from a room in our home. At one time the business, Florida Laser Printer Service, Inc., was thriving with 16 employees. Today, Jimmy works very diligently to keep his loyal customer base and it is just enough for a biweekly paycheck. But even that has to be sacrificed from time to time. I am 42, and I am not able to return to work, although, I miss it so much! I have not driven in two years as well. So as you can imagine, Jimmy litterally does it all! Jimmy and I have been married for 16 years. I knew he was "the one" when I first laid eyes on him. We were introduced by friends of ours, Melanie and Brian. And we have been inseperable since. When Jimmy found out I needed a kidney transplant, he was the first and only person that Life LInk (TGH) tested. It was a miracle when we found out that he is a "perfect match" for me. We are preparing for surgery! We will begin our pre op on March 17, 2015. We are raising money to cover our medical expenses and anti rejection medications following the surgery. Because my husband is my "Living Donor", that means that we both will be in surgery and in recovery at the same time. We are raising money to cover the medical costs (i.e., hospital deductibles, copays, prescription costs, plasma foresis treatment, etc.) of recovery and post op for the both of us. I can't imagine my life without Jimmy. And, to think he is the one really saving my life. I see every day what Kidney Disease can do to a human life, and I feel so fortunate to have had such a wonderful man put into my life. Please help us achieve our goal.
