Jimmy's recovery and healing from motorcycle accident
Donation protected
Hey guys, my name is Chelsea. I started this GoFundMe for my younger cousin Jimmy Smith. As some of you know, he was in a very bad motorcycle accident on 9/19/24 in portsmouth, va. He was hit by a car while riding his bike within blocks of his home. By the grace of God he is here today. Initially doctors thought his left arm would need to be amputated, but again, by the grace of God and a 1 in a million chance his arteries were intact and he was able to keep his arm; instead he had a rod placed. He has numerous other injuries to include a laceration to his eye and will need pelvic reconstruction.
Jimmy is the type of man to give the shirt off his back to anyone whom needed it without a single thought. He's an honest man, and works full time to provide for not only himself but he also is the full time primary caretaker/ has custody of his sister with autism. He provides the world for her; a roof over her head, her medical and hygienic needs, etc. He is expected to spend 2+ weeks in the hospital and after that, I'm sure there will be numerous medical appointments and physical therapy to follow, keeping him out of work and unable to pay the bills to keep his and his sisters home afloat.
Jimmy does not have medical insurance. We will be applying for medical assistance through the hospital and with the state in hopes they help cover his medical care and procedures.
His rent is $1100 per month, then there is utilities, I am hoping to raise enough to cover his rent and utilities for 2 months while he recovers so it's one less thing he has to worry about.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. Any and all contributions will be genuinely appreciated and will go directly to him. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to myself, or his sister Taylor Smith. We will update on his progress as we know more.
