Jimmy Miller's Heart Attack Comeback
Donation protected
He got his first bike at 5 years old. A yellow banana seat bike from JC Penny’s. His first taste of escape, freedom, and independence
Later, he cut grass and delivered newspapers to buy a BMX racing bike. When other kids wanted to toss around a baseball, all he wanted to do was ride a bike
In 1988 he scraped together enough money for his first mountain bike, a Trek 7000. He left home for college in a $400 car with a $2000 bike on top. Road biking came soon after.
Jimmy averages over 8000 miles a year on his bike. You could usually find him leading a pull at 26 mph on one of those big group rides.
Cycling is the center of his life, our life, every thing revolves around it.
On Nov 9, while riding his beloved bike he had to pull over. He had crushing chest pain. He had a sudden heart attack from a massive blood clot. Three days in the ICU, 7 days in the hospital, then a second admission for 3 days for congestive heart failure and pericarditis.
There was permanent damage and now we start rehab. It will be a long road and there will be hurdles to overcome. To help bridge this gap, I would love to get Jimmy a pedal assist electric road bike. I want him to again feel the freedom and escape he discovered at 5 yrs old.
All money generously gifted to us will go in full to a local bike shop.
