Jimmy’s Bond

About a month ago, during an indoor volleyball game, my uncle and a lot of people playing were pinned down to the floor with guns pointed at their heads and were robbed individually. In order to take precaution, they’ve started putting their gate 3/4 down so no one could get in and out yet still be able to verbally say something if they had to leave or come in whether it was to put the gate up or down. Two weeks ago, four individuals were dressed as civilians and one of them started crawling underneath the gate by force. My uncle witnessed it and kicked him thinking it was another robbery. Little did he know they were undercover detectives. Immediately, they all yelled to pull up the gate and showed badges. All four of them brutally beat up my uncle for kicking someone he believed was robbing them again. They took him to the hospital and did not let any family member see him. In the police report, they put that all four of them had to physically attack him because he refused to get arrested and that’s a LIE. It was an abusive act on their part. If they would have identified themselves from the beginning this would have been a different story. Anyone who crawls underneath a gate by force would not think it’s with good intentions. My uncle Jimmy is a hardworking generous and kind-hearted person. He would never hurt anybody intentionally. My uncle has lived with me for 16 years. In fact, for those who know me, my father was deported when I was 8. I don’t think I’ve ever faced anything harder than having my father ripped out of my arms. Immigration separates families every single day and I’m telling you from experience, it’s the worst feeling in the world not being able to understand it or have the ability to do anything about it at such a young age. It’s never easy being raised by a single parent, moving from having everything in one house to a small attic with no doors in it besides the bathroom. Even with my uncle and mother’s income we weren’t doing well because of their job positions. “Immigrants” in the United States could only do so much here for the smallest pay but we do it because we have too, because we need too and honestly, because we want to. We support our household here and families back at home. Every immigrant and person in my family works for what they have but that does not mean they get fair pay or even minimum wage. My mom works up to 12 hours a day 6 days a week. After my father, my uncle took the role as a father figure and the man in the house. He’s supported my mother and I, and once I started working we were finally able to move into an actual apartment. He never had to take on that responsibility but he willingly did. That’s the type of the person he is. He is not a criminal. He never left us. He helped us from the moment he entered this country until now. I don’t know how I’ll be able to handle it if he gets deported now. With what’s recently happened, we were able to drop the charges of the detectives incident but now he’s being detained by ICE. I never wanted to share my story out there but things aren’t as cheery as they same. I got tired of coming home, and breaking down at his absence. I miss him so much. It’s a lot of pressure being the only person in my household without a language barrier. I am currently in nursing school, a single mom and work two jobs on the side. Its a lot to carry and I would never ask for help if I didn’t really need it. Lawyers are charging us so much money to fight this case, it’s not only about what they do but also the bond payment that we’ll have to pay for to get him to stay. Honestly, anything received would be appreciated. Thank you so much for taking time to reading my story.
