His time on Earth is done. Here is the public post from his courageous 18 year old daughter who has now lost both of her parents in 30 months. Rest easy Coach, you will be missed.
With heavy hearts, we are updating everyone that dad (Jim Flynn) passed away tonight. He went peacefully, and was able to say goodbye to his kids and grandkids tonight. He is now with mom and no longer in pain. I promised him I would hold his hand until his last breathe and that's exactly what I did. We will post about his service when we get everything set. Thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers. This breaks my heart. Daddy did everything for us and now the glue to our family is gone. R.I.P daddy
As we all know, this flu season has been a rough one. Unfortunately, the flu hit our friend, Coach and mentor, Jimmy Flynn hard and he ended up hospitalized with pneumonia. While receiving treatment, some of his blood work and scans came back abnormal so he has remained hospitalized for several days. Coach Jimmy has been struggling with fatigue, breathing issues and blood pressure concerns so it will be several more weeks before he is strong enough to get back to work. For those of us who know him personally, he is itching to be back working, staying busy and enjoying his family but his health has to come first.
As the days and weeks go by with Jimmy out of work, and the hospital bills rising, we are asking that you help support this generous man as he has supported so many of us, on and off the field, the race track and in life.
Jimmy, a local Jacksonville softball coach, race car builder, master craftsman, father, grandfather and wonderful man lost his beloved wife, Kim in 2021, suddenly and very unexpectedly. The single father of 2, a adult son, "Little Jimmy" and teen daughter, Veronica, has worked tirelessly to support them all of his life but especially since the loss of their mother.
There are countless days we've seen Jimmy drive up in his work van with a side job of carpet rolls in the back, step out of one role and onto the field to coach 1st base or load balls into a pitching machine. When we'd see him at a tournament, he always greets us with an infectious smile, big hug and a little squeeze before he'd let go. Veronica was, and is, a star softball pitcher and player both in the field and at the plate. Jimmy's adoration for her was obvious when she was in her cleats and signature headband, #32 on the field and on the race track.
It is hard for many of us to see this gentle, kind, strong man go through the medical struggle he is in now. So many of us want to help Veronica, who just graduated from high school this spring, and her brother, sister-in-law, nieces and nephew but there is nothing we can do from a far but pray. This fundraiser will help keep the fight alive, keep the bills paid and the pressure off Jimmy so he can rest, heal and join us back on the field, the race track and get him home to his family.
