Big Jim's Medical Fund
Donation protected
Jimmy Custer was born and raised on Indian Island in the heart of Amisk Lake near the shores of Denare Beach. A proud aboriginal from a small town, Jimmy grew up living a tough worker's life, living without benefit of electricity and hauling water for everyday purposes. He was raised by his Grandfather, Walter Custer, whom he honored by naming his son after him. Jimmy and wife Mary-Ann have a blended family of sons and daughters, together they have two children, a son Walter and daughter Shanelle. He is known in the area to have a kind face and an outwardly friendly disposition. A profound speaker with a confident voice, Jimmy hopes to one day leave his business to his son and for Walter to continue on the traditions and knowledge Jimmy is currently passing on to his family. Jimmy is often the first to rise and last to bed.
For those who may not be aware, Jimmy is in the toughest battle of his life, he is battling Cancer. For those of you that know "Big Jim", you will know that he wants to be out on the lake, in the wilderness, running the dogs, fishing, etc and at this time, all of that has been put to a halt.
Many of you also know that the source of his and his family's income comes from running the beautiful culture camp that he and his wife MaryAnn buillt for youth groups, Elder's gatherings, staff retreats, canoe quests, etc and since Jim was diagnosed, he and MaryAnn have been at the Royal University Hospital for the last few weeks.
The funds raised will go to Jimmy's medical trips to and from the city for both him and MaryAnn. The funds will help to cover their food, lodging, fuel, parking (which is very high) and any other expenses related due to his treatment.
The next few months are going to be very tough on the family, especially for Jimmy and MaryAnn, and no one should have to worry about the financial hardship that it comes with. Any and all donations will be appreciated and I know that they are thankful for any amount. Rest assured, Jimmy is going to fight and he will need all of your love and prayers during this time, God Bless.
