JIM’S STORY
The word cancer is absolutely devastating...to a life/lives, to emotions, to finances. It deeply affects that person, their family/siblings, extended family, all the friends and so many more.
Last spring, Jimmy went to the hospital with severe stomach pain. His original diagnosis was a ruptured appendix and then crohn’s disease. Upon further intense testing, they discovered colon cancer. Stage 3, almost 4. He went through a grueling, eleven-hour surgery for partial colon removal and another two hours of a vigorous chemotherapy treatment that is referred to as “shake and bake” (an experience better explained by him in person). His appendix was also removed along with half of his iliopsoas muscle in his leg. Jimmy has a port in his chest for the chemotherapy infusion that he has been receiving every two weeks for the past six months. The side effects have prevented him from working since his surgery; and we all know disability does not pay much. Jim now suffers from neuropathy in his hands and feet from the chemo, which makes it hard for him to walk and do simple tasks throughout the day, while he's home trying to heal and recover. Jimmy has a wife, a 14 year old daughter and family; we all need him and love him so, so much! We hope and pray now that when chemo is done, his body scan shows that the cancer is gone and he can ring the survivor bell!
But we need YOUR help to get him through!
