Jimmy Karrer Family Support

My name is Jeff Darr and I am reaching out to the Facebook Community because some dear friends of ours, just lost their son. His name is Jimmy Karrer, a 23-year-old wonderful young man. Jimmy was adopted by Jim and Jo Karrer at a very young age. Also, in his youth, Jimmy was diagnosed with an auto immune disease called PSC. He fought this disease over the course of his life and it impacted his liver function to the point that he needed a liver transplant. Jimmy and his family made several trips to a specialist in Denver during the past few years to get his physical condition to a state which would allow him to be on the liver transplant list. During the past few months, Jimmy’s condition worsened to the point that he had to have a toe and foot amputated due to infection. There was still hope that he could recover but unfortunately, he passed away surrounded by family and friends on Saturday, March 8th.
Jimmy was an impressive young man! He often ushered for our Pathway Church Café service. He was an avid Boy Scout, achieving the highest honor of Eagle Scout. He also mentored younger scouts who were reaching for their goals as well. Jimmy was a fighter! Despite his health issues, Jimmy was a member of the Wichita Warriors and Wichita Jr. Thunder Hockey teams, traveling the Midwest to compete in hockey tournaments. He was on the team that was the first ever from Kansas to compete in the USA National Tournament in 2018. Jimmy also enjoyed working on cars and building computers, helping friends and family.
Jimmy’s parents, Jim and Jo Karrer are wonderful people who gave and did everything they could to give Jimmy a great life but also, to save his life. Jo is a teacher at Wichita East High School and Jim works at Walmart. All treatments, surgeries, medicine, trips to Denver, weeks long stays in the hospital, loss of income, and unfortunately, funeral expenses, have overwhelmed them financially.
This is a compassionate request, seeking donations and prayer for this wonderful family to help ease the pain in the loss of their son along with their overwhelming financial obligation.
