Jimmy Gonzalez
Loving Husband, Father, Son, Brother, Uncle
Jimmy Gonzalez of Lowell, died unexpectedly on June 17, 2021, at his home in Lowell, aged 56 years. He meant the world to Lorelei L. Hoey, and was the love of her life.
Born in Jersey City, a son of Mercedes Gonzalez Torres and Carmen M. Martinez, he received his early education in the Jersey City schools before moving to Lowell in 1977, where he finished at Lowell High School.
On a hot summer day in 1983, Jimmy locked eyes with Lorelei's at the South Common Pool, sparking a romance that flourished for over 37 years. It was truly "love at first sight”.
Jimmy loved camping and watching football. He also enjoyed a good challenge - whether a game of dominos, chess, basketball, or a quick foot race. He was a great cook, loved flying kites, going fishing, and spending time at the ocean...always wanting everything set up by 6 AM! Most of all, Jim was a loving, supportive, and devoted family man who will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Jimmy made endless connections throughout life. In his younger years he was known for breaking school records with his impressive speed at Lowell High School; a trait he passed along to his children. Upon raising his children, he and his family vacationed at Wyman's Beach each summer for over 10 years. Winter's were devoted to (sometimes) triple football headers; first Casey's, then Ramsey and Sabrina's, and finally capped with a late night New England Patriots game. Fall could have possibly been his favorite season though. Grand birthday and Halloween celebrations were always the peak of everyone's interest! He simply loved to host and cook; pork shoulders and BBQ's well into the snowy winter was his sure fire way of showing his love. Throughout his journey in life Jimmy became a father figure to many.
In addition to Lorelei, he is survived by two sons, Casey J. Gonzalez and his fiancé Katie Sullivan, and Ramsey J. Gonzalez; and one daughter, Sabrina L. Gonzalez, all of Lowell; three sisters, Dalia Burgos of Lowell, Carmen L. Gonzalez of New Jersey, and Lourdes L. Gonzalez of Puerto Rico, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and close friends.
The family sends their greatest appreciation for every offering received, no matter how big or small. 100% of the donations will be used to cover the funeral expenses; including transportation, embalming, casket, visitation/ viewing, funeral staff and facilities, vault, and graveside services. Sabrina Gonzalez will be in charge of final expenses. Please visit Jimmy’s life tribute at www.morsebaylissfuneralhome.com
