Hi, my name is Cheri, and I am reaching out to our friends, family, and community for help. My crazy, annoying and fun-loving brother really needs us to rally together to help him stay comfortable during his long road to recovery.
Jimmy was at work a few weeks ago and suffered an injury that, at first, was thought to be a pulled muscle but actually turned out to be something much more serious and life threatening. He is currently in a lot of pain and suffering from a flesh-eating bacteria. Jimmy has been in the hospital since January 17, 2024. He has had 3 surgeries so far and will most likely require more. We are still not sure when he will be able to leave the hospital and go home. We have been told that the healing process will be long and that it will take "months".
His daughter Lucy is turning 18 on January 25th and she lives with Jimmy. My mom flew in from Florida and we are all by his side. Jimmy will need lots of in-home health care when he is released from the hospital. He is currently going on his 3rd week of not being able to work. We are hoping he receives Workmans' Compensation to at least cover his medical expenses, but we know that will take time before it kicks in and we are not sure if it will cover his lost salary. There are so many unknowns at this time.
Jimmy and Lucy have been saving for a long time in hopes to move back to their home state of Florida once Lucy graduates this year. Lucy is planning on attending college in Florida as well.
We would like to keep Jimmy and Lucy's dream alive and not let this terrible accident hold them back from reaching their dreams and goals that they have worked so hard for.
We greatly appreciate any help offered. We were thinking of other ideas that could help them like a food train, Grub Hub, Amazon gift cards or things like that. If you would like information to be able to send Jimmy and Lucy things like that, please contact me and I will make it happen.
We will try to update on this page of his progress. Keep the good vibes, love thoughts and especially prayers going for a full recovery.
