Greeted with a hug and "Hi Honey! How ya doin?!" was the first time I ever met Jimmy. I thought, 'Well that's quite the introduction!' But if you knew Jimmy you'd know he's quite the guy. Sadly, I've only ever known him to be in pain but if that's him in pain, I can't imagine how he was in his prime.
Even though he was plagued with chronic discomfort, you couldn't tell. Jimmy suffered in silence. He never complained about the endless doctor's visits, wrong medications, and misdiagnosis. He smiled through it all and was hopeful the next day would bring him comfort.
He was always the first one to lend a hand... with his walking cane and all. Need help with a leak? Having car trouble? Air conditioning issues? Jimmy was more than happy to trouble shoot the problems from his bed and he could always diagnose the problems... it’s a shame his doctor’s couldn’t do the same for him.
But now, we want to be there for him!
On October 12 Jimmy was diagnosed with Stage 4 Pancreatic and Stomach Cancer. His wife and 2 children are beyond devastated.
As recent as March he was given a cancer free diagnosis from the biopsies he had... how could this be that now he is stricken throughout with Cancer and is now in hospice care??
Despite this life shattering news, Jimmy told us that he wants to go home and then to the beach when he's better.
Our hearts are broken, but Jimmy's spirit isn't. He remains optimistic because that's the type of person he is - positive, hopeful, happy, and smiling.
At this point, it's not a matter of if but when... and when it's Jimmy's time we want him to be as comfortable as possible and to know that his family - his stoic and supporting wife and 2 courageous boys will be taken care of when their father isn't around to do it anymore.
We want him to know that Pam will be able to raise their boys without worrying about how she'll pay the bills or put food on the table. We want the boys to have the life Jimmy would want for them - to enjoy life, go to college, and have their dreams come true.
We appreciate any donation you can make. Nothing is too small. Thank you for helping us give Jimmy a fraction of what he has given to us.
