In Memory of Jimmy Casey

Edit: We are floored by the outpouring of support for the Casey family. They are feeling the love, and your words of encouragement are being received and are so appreciated. It is truly a testament to Jimmy's legacy and to the love that this community had for him that this campaign has surpassed 50k. Thank you to each and every person who has given. We are going to keep the campaign going a while longer and continue to incrementally up the goal to make sure we are giving as generous a gift as we possibly can to the Casey family to assist during this extremely challenging time. When the time feels right, we'll bring this campaign to a close with gratitude. Thank you again.

Edit: thank you for helping us hit our initial goal of $15,000. We’ve upped the goal to $25,000 as every dollar raised goes towards both easing the financial burden of Jimmy’s funeral arrangements but all additional money will go to the Casey family and Jimmy’s daughter Violet.

Yesterday, February 8th, Black Rock got the news that Jimmy Casey had passed away, just two and a half years after the loss of his younger brother Eddie. We can’t seem to find the words to describe how devastated we are by this tragedy. Jimmy was a part of Black Rock’s fabric, a staple of this community, and he will be dearly missed.

If you’ve spent time in Black Rock, you’ve likely seen Jimmy out and about on Fairfield Ave visiting his many friends, playing music at Road Runner and Park City–memorably once for a sold out show–or pulling his sweet daughter Violet around in her wagon. He was an avid adventurer, a lover of nature who was always up for a hike, a canoe ride, or a bonfire. He loved to make people laugh and had the most lovable, mischievous smile. He craved to learn anything and everything he could. He had an insatiable thirst for knowledge. In short, his life was marked by moments of joy, laughter, and a boundless energy that is sure to be the cornerstone of his memory. His life touched the lives of countless family members and friends who today are undoubtedly mourning the loss of a dear friend, son, brother, and father.

Please consider donating to this gofundme which will be used to ease the financial burden of funeral services and to ensure The Casey family has time to mourn the loss of dear Jimmy. Money will also be used to support Violet, Jimmy’s beautiful daughter.
