It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we confirm the person found in the house fire early Wednesday morning, was our beloved brother, Jimmy Anthony De Hoyos. Our family is in shock and in disbelief that we have lost such a great brother, son, friend but most importantly of all, his daughter has lost her dad.
If you knew my brother, you knew he was all about family. If you were his friend, you were part of his family. Jimmy had a heart of gold. My brother was always willingly and ready to help a friend. Jimmy was also the life of every party! He made us laugh, never letting us take ourselves too seriously. Everyone always had so much fun around him. My brother never meta stranger because he knew everybody. I couldn’t be upset or frustrated around him, because he knew exactly what to say to make me crack up! I was always convinced he never tried to be so hilarious, it just came natural for him. But jokes or no jokes, my brother ALWAYS told us he loved us, and chances are… be probably told you, too!
As many of you may know back in 2002 our family experienced our 1st tragedy. Losing our youngest brother, Roy De Hoyos in a terrible car accident. Jimmy and Roy we thick as thieves. If you saw one, you probably saw the other. Of course, Roy’s lost was hard for all of us. But especially hard for Jimmy. They were 2 yrs parts and extremely close. Those 2 shared a bond, only they understood. Jimmy watched over our nieces, the 2 young daughter’s Roy left behind. Always saying, I got you, bro!
The only thing giving us solace today, is knowing Jimmy and Roy are reunited and are probably driving our “Lita” (grandmother) crazy!
Our parents, Roy & Margie are the best 2 people in the world! Losing their 2 youngest sons is certainly effecting them in ways I wish no one has to experience. They are great loving people who have welcomed many, many of Jimmy’s friends into their home and some into our family. I’d like to thank the friends who have stopped by to pay their r
espects and just offer a hug.
Jimmy’s beautiful daughter, Nadia Nicole, recently had arm surgery. Nadia has a long way to recovery. Her physical therapy has been postponed due to the circumstances and may be in need of a second operation. Our hearts break for Nadia, as everyone knew, she was and will always be “Daddy’s little girl”.
But if there was one thing my brother taught her, it was the bond and love of our family. My parents have always had a special bond with Nadia. So these past few days, it has been very hopeful that they have each other to hold on to, to cry with, to grief with and yes, to laugh with. Because Jimmy left us with so many great memories! I just hope my little brother knew just how much he, too was loved.
My own boys, Kris, Drew and Matt were especially close to Jimmy, Nad and Val.
I know they are heart-broken. Jimmy had so much love for all us sisters, his brother, nieces, nephews, Aunts, Uncles, cousins and especially you, his friends.
Arrangements for Jimmy are pending. I will certainly post updates as they become available. As for now, family and friends have asked how they can help. Our family believes in the power of prayer. And right now we need prayer to give us the strength to once again, bury a beloved brother far too soon.
We love you, Jimmy
