It seems like tragedy hits those hardest who are so giving to others.
This is the story of my sister Diane and her husband Jimmy. Diane is one of the most selfless and loving people I know.
Diane, her husband Jim, and their daughter Nicole live in Ste Genevieve MO, enjoying life's simple blessings.
Diane, who retired a couple of years ago, spent each day driving one hour from her home in Ste Genevieve to St Louis to care for our Mom and Dad, both in their 80s. She would take them to their doctor appointments, do their grocery shopping, clean their house, and spend quality time with them. About a year ago, our dad, suffering from symptoms of Alzheimer's, was moved to a nursing home. Diane continued to care for our mom and visited our dad each weekday at the nursing home.
Sadly in February, our dad, Lloyd Wester passed away peacefully.
On the day of the funeral, Diane and Jim were thrown a truly unexpected turn of events. That morning, while at the funeral home preparing for the burial, Jim suffered a major heart attack. Thanks to Kutis Funeral Home and EMT’s fast actions, Jim was brought back to a stable but very critical condition. Because of the unexpected timing of the events, Diane was not able to say goodbye or attend our Dad’s funeral as she was rushed to the hospital to be with Jimmy.
Jim was in the ICU and in a medically induced coma until last week, and sadly he is still in the hospital suffering from multiple organ issues.
The last 45 days have been very challenging for the Fischer's, with Diane hoping to keep some semblance of normalcy for their daughter Nicole, and continuing to make her daily commute to St Louis to take care of her husband and continue caring for our Mom.
Since Jim, a mechanic, is the sole wage earner, their income and mounting medical bills have created a tragic situation for a beautiful, kind, and giving family.
We would appreciate anything you can give to this family in need.
