James Reichert II - US Marine Corps

Donation protected
My brother Jim enlisted in the Marine Corps where he served for over 12 years. In 1995 he was accepted into Officer training but had to drop out after three weeks due to a bone disease in his left ankle. Due to this ankle issue, his career in the Marines was cut short and he was medically discharged in 1998. He has struggled with pain ever since and now is facing an ankle replacement because it is so difficult for him to walk without a cane. After 9/11, my brother applied for and joined the FBI because he missed serving his country.
In 2007, while assigned to the Phoenix FBI office, he was in a bad roll-over auto accident and broke his C-2 vertebrae and had severe trauma to his cervical spine. Since then he’s lived with neck pain, but over the years he’s developed degenerative disc disease and osteoarthritis throughout his cervical spine and it’s become very debilitating, causing him dizziness and severe headaches while working or being active. His pain has become excruciating and he’s been from doctor to doctor and there’s nothing they can do at this point to fix it surgically, they’re just trying to manage his symptoms with a variety of drugs and neck traction, which at this point hasn’t been effective. The pain and dizziness have caused him to miss so much work that he has exhausted all of his sick leave. He’s been relying on donated leave from his co-workers in the FBI and has been grateful for the help but now the donated leave is about to run out and he’s faced with the only option of medical retirement. The problem is that it’ll take up to a year to make a decision on his retirement application. During this time he will be left with no income. He’s trying to support his three kids and maintain a household, but without an income while waiting on a retirement decision, he’s at the end of his rope trying to figure out how to make ends meet.
This situation has wrecked his self-esteem as he’s always been self-sufficient and lives for his three children. I am asking for any help you can give. Unfortunately money is what is needed right now. He served our country for most of his adult life and I’m asking that we now help him. I have started this go fund me page to help try and help him get by until he can begin getting retirement benefits a year from now. From the bottom of my heart I thank you and may the Lord bless you.
