For many years, Jim Quinn II has been an integral and inspirational part of the Arizona tattoo community. His skill in his art, his quick wit, and his generous heart are both well known and deeply valued. We are profoundly saddened to bring you the news that Jim is currently battling cancer. (lymphoma)
Jim has begun the process of undergoing surgeries and will begin chemotherapy soon. Though the prognosis is optimistic, he will face tremendous physical and emotional challenges in the coming months, including the financial strain of his treatment. Despite this time of hardship, we are comforted in knowing that Jim is part of a caring community that stands strong together in times of difficulty.
It is in this spirit of unity that Istari Studios is announcing a fundraising benefit on Jim’s behalf, to be held at Tucson’s Downtown Independent Distillery and Hi Wire (located behind Jhonny Gibsons) on Sunday, March 24, 2019 at 12pm-6pm. We invite you to join us in supporting Jim with food, silent art auctions, original artwork sales/auctions, and exceptional food and beverages. All proceeds will be given to Jim to lessen his burden during this ordeal, as he is the sole provider of his family (Wife and 5 year old Daughter) Just as he has shown kindness to so many others over his long career.
From all of us at Istari Studios, thank you for your generous support.
A special thanks to all of Jim’s Family, Friends and clients. All Tucson Artist and shops who are donating artwork, love and time, to both Independent Distillery and Hi Wire for hosting this event and supporting a cause that we believe in and for the sole person who set the bar for most Tucson artist and it’s community.
We love you Jim, this is just the beginning and we will always have your back through this tough time.
On a personal note: Which I never really express on social media. Jim has been the biggest inspiration to me over the years. He gave me the ok to move forward with my dream, my career and a passion I cannot ever fathom losing. I would not be where or who I am today. This is the one person I look up to on a daily basis as a human, friend and business partner. As some of you may know and majority of you don’t. I was also threatened with this cancer and was lucky enough to be cleared from all of this. I know the anxiety, the fear, the disbelief. I can only imagine what Jim is going through as he is not in the clear, yet! I believe in you Jim and I believe you will fight to get rid of this treacherous infestation that so many of our loved ones have endured. We all will continue to support and love you till this is no longer a part of you. To Rachel and Cammy, you are his heart and soul. As a whole, a family, our tattoo community, family, friends and clients. We will do what’s in our power to assist you in this hard time. Jim will be ok..
thank you all,
Roman
