Jim Manis passed away on December 4, 2021, leaving behind a legacy of over 40 years of teaching young people to tell their stories through the written word.
He began several literary magazines, participated in the invention of the e-book, was a voracious reader and published poems and stories throughout his career. He oversaw his campus library acquisitions committee, working tireless on diversity in hiring programs, and had a soft spot for nontraditional and immigrant students.
To honor his dedication to teaching and mentoring, his three children and their families wish to create a fund in his name to benefit educational needs of students directly, to further his good work in the world.
