JIM KRAUS'S PLUCKY CANCER JOURNEY
Donation protected
My name is Carol. I'm here to encourage you to join me in financially supporting my cousin Jim and his wife Joan through Jim's battle with stage III lung cancer.
Jim was diagnosed in May 2021, when it was determined that the cancer was caused by exposure to asbestos while serving his country in the Navy in Vietnam.
Jim is a quiet, contemplative fella, who, like many, has had rocky times in this journey called life. As well, he has enjoyed much happiness, as in his marriage of 47 years to his bride Joan, being a dad to his sons Michael and Matthew, and Papa Jim to his grandson Myles.
As Jim and Joan live in Maine, and family members live throughout Massachusetts, it has been challenging to not have a geographical and personal support community. In Maine, they are grateful to have the support of the New England Cancer Specialists and the Dempsey Center.
During these long months and days of chemotherapy and radiation, Jim has shown much bravery in his determination to fight the battle against lung cancer and the lingering effects of his service in Vietnam.
During the pandemic, Jim was laid off from his position at L.L. Bean, after which he subsisted on unemployment. Unemployment benefits ceased. Shortly thereafter, Jim was diagnosed with cancer. Therefore, he was unable to return to the workforce while getting treatment. Like many in their shoes, the couple was reduced to living on debt.
It is my profound hope that a Go-Fund-Me will assist this loving and creative couple in alleviating the pressure of scraping by financially while facing the ire of cancer, and that it will promote momentum for healing and complete remission.
Thank you sincerely. Please donate & share words of encouragement.
