James Kostreva, 44, Oconto, died Monday evening, November 29, 2021 at a Green Bay hospital following complications from a 6 week battle with COVID. The youngest of three children was born January 15, 1977 in Oconto to Jerry and Judy (Crozier) Kostreva. James grew up in Oconto where he attended public schools, graduating from Oconto High School with the class of 1995. As a young man, he enjoyed racing 4-wheelers with number 52 on and just being outdoors.
On May 10, 2014 he married the love of his life and best friend, Tina Kurtz at Hillside Assembly of God in Gillett. The couple has lived in Oconto all their married lives and have two children, Kenzie Autumn, age 3 years and Westin James, age 6 months. James was currently employed by the Brown County Highway Department and felt honored to plow the I-43 route for the county. He attended Hillside Assembly of God in Gillett. James will be lovingly remembered as a positive person, easy going guy, with his engaging smile and ability to get along with anyone. James was a go getter and get it done kind of guy. James was a loving and devoted husband and father who was very involved with his kids and looked for any opportunity to help his wife with their young children. It was obvious he loved his kids and wife by his actions. James also enjoyed spending time with his friends and extended family.
Survivors are his wife of seven years, Tina Kostreva, Oconto; their two children, Kenzie Autumn and Westin James at home; his parents, Jerry and Judy Kostreva, Oconto; one brother, Jeff (Gina) Kostreva and children, James, Erica, Scott and Alexa; his in-laws, Rick Kurtz and Patty Kurtz, both of Cecil; Tina’s siblings, Tony (Megan) Kurtz and children, Ryley, Khloe, Qwynnlyn and Remington; Trisha (J.D.) Gagnon, Pella; Tommy Kurtz, Green Bay; Tammy (Kyle) Szymanski, Pulaski; other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his infant brother, Jonathan, paternal grandparents, Edward and Inez Kostreva and maternal grandparents, Harold and Florence Crozier.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 until 7:00 pm Friday, December 3, 2021 at Hillside Assembly of God, 5890 Hwy. 22 W, Gillett. Visitation will continue after 9:00 am Saturday, December 4, 2021 at the church until the time of services at 11:00 am with Pastor Jon Carlson officiating.
