Hi My name is Susan Konrad, I am raising funds to help pay for the funeral expenses of my loving husband of 45 years, James Edward Konrad. He passed at home on November 13, 2021 of heart complications.
Anyone who would like to help donate please know that your contribution no matter how small will be greatly appreciated by our family.
Jim grew up in the Tri-State area of Ohio, Michigan and Indiana. We were introduced to each other after I graduated from College by a friend that we both played pool with. Mr. Jim Stroh wanted me to meet Jim Konrad after he saw me with another gentleman. He told me I've got the man for you. And after only 3 dates Jim Konrad proposed.
Jim will be remembered loving to farm , hunt, fish and garden in Indian and camping and telling stories around the campfire in the mountains of Colorado. Jim always loved the mountains and fishing in the streams. He loved all types of wildlife. I remember when we crossed the Colorado boarder from Kansas. He asked where are these mountains you keep talking about. I had to let him know that we needed to get to them before we could see them. He was happy as a Meadow Lark when he saw them as we crossed Ellicott Highway traveling East on Highway 24.
He leaves behind a son Joseph Konrad, 42 and a daughter Katherine Smith (Katy Did or Kat), 39 and son in law Jeffery Smith. All children reside in Colorado.
Jim and I moved to Colorado from Indiana in the Spring of 1981. We lived in Peyton Colorado, on the property know now as The Blue Springs Subdivision, for 21 years; before moving to Hanover in January of 2001.
In Colorado he worked putting underground electric in for ICG Electric.
Later he worked for Walt and Peggy LeCavelier at AGAPE Moving and Storage, also in Colorado Springs.
In 1997 Jim started having issues with his legs swelling and not wanting to work correctly. Later his memory was not as sharp as it once was. He would mark the calendar so he could remember what date it was. He was head strong. On November 11 his legs finally stopped working. We had to call 911 for help from the Hanover firefighters to help him back into bed. They told him he should go to the hospital, he refused. 24 hours later I woke up next to him to find him no longer breathing. I called 911 and the fireman returned and then the police and coroner pronounced his passing on November 13th.
My loving husband of so many years passed in the comfort of our bed quietly in his sleep. He will be greatly missed. I am going through to find pictures (with out his large hand in them) to make a memory board, of our life and events together so people who come to his Celebration of Life can see what a vibrant Mountain of a Man he was.
We love and miss you Babe. Susan and family
