Dear friends and family, our beloved Jim had a medical emergency in France and is currently in the ICU there. He is not stable enough to fly home on a commercial aircraft, and the doctors are requesting an ambulance service to immediately return him home so that he can receive life-saving medical treatment in Los Angeles. The medical flight must be paid with cash before his departure, and we are hoping to be able to offset the cost with contributions from his wonderful network of friends (he did not have travel insurance, and his credit cards don't include coverage for medical emergencies abroad).
