In Memory of Jim Heiner:
There are many of us who hold Jim dear to our hearts for various reasons. If you met him, you didn't remember him because he was in a wheelchair. You remembered him because of his kind soul and the care he showed for everyone he came in contact with. You may remember him for his innate ability to understand, teach, and sing music. Some remember him for his sense of humor. Regardless of your reason, we all know that Jim cared about helping others more than he cared about himself.
As a way to commemorate Jim, we would love to support a few organizations near to his heart. In lieu of flowers, and if so inclined, please use this page as a way to honor Jim. All donations will be split between the following:
- Las Positas Music Department: Jim taught music for most of his life, pushing the limits of what anyone would think someone with Muscular Dystropy could achieve. You can do a quick search online to find countless peoples' lives that Jim has impacted throughout his teaching career.
- Muscular Dystrophy Association: Jim was diagnosed with MD in college. Instead of throwing in the cards he was dealt, he courageously faced the disease and its challenges head on. He has accomplished more in life than most, regardless of his MD. He traveled all over the world in a wheelchair to teach and live life to the fullest.
- Cornerstone Church: Jim was devoted to his faith and attended church weekly at Cornerstone in Livermore . The church has graciously offered to hold his memorial/celebration of life at their facility. We want to give back as a token of our appreciation.
Thank you to everyone for their love and support. Please join us for a Celebration of Life and reception to honor him on Friday, January 3rd, 2020, at Cornerstone Church in Livermore, CA, located at 348 North Canyons Parkway at 10:30am (for visitation) and 11:00am (Celebration of Life).
