Jim has been approved for a new liver!
Donation protected
Hello friends, this is my husband, Jim, also affectionally known as Bonehead. Jim has been battling liver
cancer for the last year and on our last visit was told that he might be winning the battle. You can
imagine the joy and relief we both felt. In an overnight turn of events, Jim contracted an infection in his
abdomen and his blood which resulted in us going to the ER at St. Alphonsus, where after a
couple of days, we found out that his liver cancer and cirrhosis were causing his kidneys to fail. Our only hope for
him to survive this was to be life flighted to Salt Lake City University of Utah Medical Center, where he
has been since Wednesday night. After an agonizing week of tests and evaluations, Jim has been
approved for a liver transplant and we could not be more grateful. Our journey is just beginning though.
After what may be weeks in the hospital here for workups and a surgery to insert a shunt in the vein
that will be attached to his donor liver and then finally the transplant surgery, we will have to live in Salt
Lake City for at least 3 months for follow-up treatment. Needless to say, the financial burden is one that
we will not even consider when making the decision to have this needed surgery. But the reality is
creeping in, and we know that it is time to ask for help. Housing, food and all everyday needs are
our responsibility, as well as maintaining our home and bills in Idaho. If you can find it in. your hearts to
donate to this cause to help relieve the financial worry we face, Jim and I would be forever grateful, not
to mention the excellent karma you would be putting in your karma bank. Thank you so much for
reading our story; stay healthy, hug your loved ones and don’t take one single day for granted. Love and
light to you all, Diane and Jim, aka Bonehead.
