As many of you know Jim Flaschberger has suffered 5 heart attacks over the past couple of years. At only 56 years old, he has 9 stints in his heart. With a family of 5 children and 2 in college, financial situations have become hard to manage. Friday, April 15th, Jim went into St. John's Hospital with heart pain after visiting the ER a couple of weeks before. They decided with his past history of heart issues that they wanted to keep him for observation. With his past, they were able to diagnose that he had a blocked artery again. Jim then was told they would be doing an angiogram Monday, April 18th to place another stint. As a result of having the angiogram scheduled for Monday, they wanted to keep him over Easter weekend for observation. They went in for the angiogram but soon came out and realized the blockage was in the arterioles (the small branches off of the main arteries). With this news they were told 2 options, try medication and scan his heart by doing an MRI or do Coronary artery bypass surgery (CABG). The surgeons and team of doctors decided that they would do an MRI of his heart the next day Tuesday, April 19th. He then went in for the MRI and they were able to receive the results the same day. His heart was more extensive than they thought and they are scheduling him for his CABG next week (April 25-29). (The official date has not been set yet but when it is I will update this.) With Jim already being out of work for a week and going to continue for the next 2 months, they are struggling to accommodate all the bills amongst one check as Jim was one of the main sources of income. Jim's recovery will be a week in the hospital, then another 2 months off of work gaining back strength. This go fund me was started to hopefully be able to help the family pay rent for their house, provide food, medical bills and help with monthly bills. If you are able to help, it would be greatly appreciated.
