My name is Nicole and this GoFundMe is for my Dad, Jim Dunn. He’s been married to my mom, Terri Dunn for 33 years. My dad is a father of 3, and a grandfather to 4 little ones.
My dad, Jim, is loved and adored by all who meet him and is a true friend and co-worker to many with his dedication to American Airlines for over 20 years. Unfortunately, my dad has not been able to work for over a year due to cancer treatments, such as surgeries, chemo, multiple testing and overall medical condition.
My father had not been feeling well for several months prior to April 5, 2018. A large mass was discovered by colonoscopy. Emergency surgery was performed the week of his 53rd birthday in attempt to remove the baseball size tumor from his colon, along with the removal of 3 of his lymph nodes. During surgery, the surgeon discovered his cancer had already spread to liver. He was given less than a 3 year survival rate and his oncologist’s only advising hope would be clincial trials, with no other options.
Medical experts stressed the rareness of this cancer gene and it’s acceleration rate moves so quickly. It is found in less than 10% of cases and survival rate is dismal.
My father has sought out several different proven medical options, such as several liver ablation surgeries on his cancer with the City of Hope in California, working with some of the top experts and medically published medical professionals in the country. These doctors have literally kept him alive when we were given no future options.
Since his last surgery in November 2020, his cancer was concluded inoperative, due to severity of the metatsized cancer.
My father, Jim, continued to work in between doctor appointments, labs, chemotherapy treatments, including surgeries -- even returning to work in December 2019, a short 10 days after a liver ablation surgery! His continued attitude, faith, and determination is the example he set for highest standards and expectations. Our family and friends can say he is the strongest, non complaining, go getting man anyone has ever met.
The next endeavor requires out of state treatment. His new medical experts are hopeful and have the vision of remission.
In hopes for help with medical bills, any donations are greatly appreciated. Thank you.
