Help Create Memorial Plaque for Jim Detterline
Donation protected
Jim Detterline, a Pennsylvania native moved to Colorado and made the Estes Valley his home for many years.
Jim was a college professor, jazz musician, volunteer fireman, naturalist and Rocky Mountain National Park Ranger. Under his direction, Jim is accredited with over 1,200 rescues in Rocky Mountain National Park. Jim holds the world record for Longs Peak Summit ascents at 428.
Jim tragically died in a climbing accident in 2016. Longs Peak Reunion, an organization Jim created in 1991 to preserve the history of Longs Peak events, is spearheading this memorial drive to honor such an extraordinary human being.
The final tally of donations will decide the size of the memorial. Ideally, a full-size bronze statue of Jim overlooking Longs Peak is the goal. If donations do not meet that goal, a memorial plaque will be commissioned instead.
ALL DONATIONS GO TO JIM DETTERLINE MEMORIAL. There are no administrative add-on costs, as we are an all-volunteer staff.
This campaign will operate for one year, or until the goal is met.
Show your love to Jim with a generous donation. All donors will be acknowledged in the dedication program unless you specify Anonymous in your donor designation.
