Jim Colvin Funeral Expenses

Donation protected

The world lost some of it's sass yesterday with the passing of Jim Colvin. He had been battling dementia for the past 6 years but suffered a severe decline this past year. This spring he was diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure and placed on hospice. Jim turned 74 on July 25th of this year. His birthday was his favorite day of the year; no matter what month is was he would say "I got a birthday coming up!" We will all miss his smart-ass sense of humor that kept us on our toes!

The funeral cost will be $3,900 and the VA & Social Security benefits are negligible. Please help us raise the funeral costs so they can celebrate Jim's life as he deserves. They need to have at least half of the money by Monday in order to make arrangements for Friday. Anything you can provide would help!

The Obituary:

James (Jim) R. Colvin, age 74, passed away peacefully Friday, August, 6, 2021 at Delaware Court

Healthcare Center.

Jim was born on July 25, 1947 in Paintsville, Kentucky, the son of the late Walter P. and Dorothy J.(Fairchild) Colvin. They moved to Ohio in the early 1950s. Jim attended Olentangy High School where he later received his GED while in the military. After coming home from the army, he had worked for Ohio Wesleyan University as a locksmith for 33 years, retiring in 2010. He truly loved his job and never missed

a day of work. Before being diagnosed with dementia in 2015, his workshop was where you would find him. Jim was always building or working on something in his shed. When he was not making cabinets or coat racks, he was hanging out and playing with his grandchildren, who were the light of his life. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of almost 49 years, Cindy (Freeman) Colvin of Delaware; his son Joe (Alli) Colvin of Delaware; his daughter Kelli Colvin of Delaware; 3 grandchildren Burke, Delainey and Waylynn Colvin of Delaware; a brother Bruce (Debbie) Colvin of Delaware; a sister Glenna Colvin Hicks of Springfield; numerous nieces and nephews; and best friends Dan and Patti Gladman of Delaware. He also left behind his best buddy Rufus, his dachshund of 15 years. In addition to his parents that have preceded him in death was his brother Leroy Colvin and Donald Colvin.
