Jim Cherico's War with Multiple Myeloma
Our beloved Army Ranger, Jim Cherico, is up against his toughest battle. Last year, he was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma (a cancer of plasma cells). There is currently not a cure for this type of cancer, but treatments can slow its spread.
His treatment plan begun in September 2019. Once a week, from September to April, he goes into Mass General for treatments. In January, he spent a day in the hospital to remove stem cells to freeze for his upcoming stem cell transplant in May. This procedure will require heavy chemo to destroy almost all of the cells in his bone marrow (the cells causing the cancer along with healthy cells too), followed by putting his saved stem cells back into his blood stream to start making healthy blood. It is about a 3 week process and will leave him out of work for 3 months following.
He has a long road ahead of him and the added financial stress is the last thing we want him to worry about. Which is why we are building Jim's army! We are asking for your support to help relieve some of the financial burden that this disease has caused.
