Jim Bohman Memorial Fund

Jim passed away September 28, 2018 as a result of complications from a surgery he thought would enhance his life. Prior to that, he had been a loving husband to his beloved, Terri, active with his kids, volunteering as a coach for the Northern Illinois Special Recreation Association, going fishing, bowling and encouraging their participation in the Special Olympics. He was a wonderful father to his boys, James, Alex and Anthony and his daughter Kayla. He was a was a devoted member of his church, his faith sustaining him until the end of his life on earth. 
My sisters and I witnessed his journey, awestruck by his dedication to Terri and his family, fueled by by his faith in God, and sustained by all of those who loved him. As his body declined, our brother became a warrior, determined to survive.  Eventually he was admitted to the Walter Payton Kidney Unit. The initial prognosis was that he had only a few weeks to survive. That turned into over four months, due to his determination to fight  and his dedicated care team at UIH. 
Jim was under the care of liver, kidney and surgical teams, who informed him that he would have to agree to painful medical procedures, surgeries and and rehabilitation in order to to survive. He agreed to do so to remain with His family. 
Three of Jim’s sons have special needs, requiring  care and supervision. It has yet to be determined, what can be done to help the family with staggering medical bills, so we are establishing a fund in Jim’s name. The funds from this will be placed in the James M. Bohman Memorial Fund. The fund will help with funeral and medical expenses and help fund their family in the interim. Nothing will replace Jim, but his last wish was that family and friends will be there to offer comfort and support to Terri, James, Alex, Anthony and Kayla after his demise.
