Jim and Kathy Piel's Hospital Stay

Hi! My name is Shelby Piel, and I'm fundraising for Jim and Kathy Piel.

From Aaron Piel (Jim and Kathy's son):

"My dad is currently in the Mazankowski Heart Institute in Edmonton where he is awaiting open heart surgery. He was admitted on Friday, October 11 as his kidneys were failing due to congestive heart failure. He will be there for three weeks before the surgery, as doctors try to strengthen his heart enough to withstand the surgery. During the surgery, they will put in a Vad Apparatus, which is an electronic device that performs that heart’s pumping function when it can no longer do so well enough its own.

 

The recovery for that surgery, if successful, involves three weeks in the hospital followed by three months of living in Edmonton for regular follow-ups with the surgeon. My mom will be unable to work during that time as she stays with my dad, and will have to find a place in Edmonton to rent."

Funds raised will go towards living expenses for Kathy as she awaits Jim's surgery, as well as living expenses while she awaits his recovery. Every little bit helps! Whether it's a thought, prayer, message, or donation, the Piel's would be so grateful for your support during this time.
