Honor Jim Abrahams: Help Support His Loved Ones

Donation protected
Last week beloved father, husband, friend, Coach, and longtime City of Orange neighbor for over 40 years, Jim Abrahams was tragically taken from his loved ones, friends and community far too soon after a short but intense and valiant battle with cancer.

Please join us in supporting his daughter Jamie, his wife Margie and his best friend Kirby the 11 year old basset hound as they navigate this new heartbreaking terrain and all the new unexpected costs associated with it. At a time that should be the most joyous of their life as Jamie and her husband John prepare to realize their greatest wish and welcome their first baby; they are instead having to plan a funeral and say goodbye to Jim, who should have been there right beside them every step of the way.

Immediate costs that need to be recouped and covered include:
  • cremation and end of life services;
  • accrued medical costs;
  • since Jamie took care of all of the hospice care herself at Jim’s home until his passing (honoring his wishes) a deep home, carpet and upholstery cleaning and sanitizing is needed immediately to prepare for Margie's return next week from her skilled nursing facility she's been at the last few months for her own ailments;
  • and other associated and unknown costs that might arise as they work through these next weeks.

Besides his closest family and friends, Jim was also an incredibly important person to so many people, and he is remembered and loved by so many different groups: from the high school students he coached as a golf instructor at Orange High School for almost 20 years; to the many musicians he counted as friends and jammed with over his lifetime of creating music; to the students over 40 years at various schools at Orange Unified School District as he was known as the "Ice Man" who changed the trajectory of so many lives as a mentor in the in-school suspension system.

With such a long and impactful life, it's evident that so many people want to be involved in remembering and honoring his life. A small service will be announced soon and will be held at Chapman Funeral Home in Orange.

Because of the smaller nature of this memorial service, and because Jim was a party in life, and even after death, a second much larger, and much more rockin' celebration of life will also be planned and announced later with musical performances and allowing for a bigger crowd of friends and family.

In the meantime, please give generously to this fund to allow Jim's daughter, wife and family to grieve, and remember, and laugh, and cry, and not have to worry about money while they are doing it.
