I've lived alone since I was 15. Never had the opportunity for uni or travelling. An artist, a blogger, committed yogi and mindfulness enthusiast, and a recovered anorexic. Works within the community voluntarily, currently unemployed just completed over 6000 nm as an off shore ocean racer as a pinnacle to her recovery and as a bursary recipient from my local council. Incredibly grateful girl.
Visiting the US and participating in Clipper Round The World has changed my life and opened my eyes to a realm of possibility.
I've been offered work and qualification in the US as a result of completing this race. Unfortunately my current situation does not allow me to take advantage of this offer of a lifetime as the local employment situation leaves a little to be desired...
It seems crazy to me that something like money would be the ONLY factor that would hinder me from a quality of life and independence.
I intend to book my flights and pay for my course which will provide me with a certificate legally allowing me to work within the yacht industry. The job offer at present is in Florida.
In return I plan to continue blogging and supporting my local community. My aim is to continue to promote my city, it's talent and wares through cross pollination increasing international connections between both countries. I also fully intend to take my career as far as I can and anyone whom has followed my story knows this to be the case with most things I put my mind to over the years.
Until now though I've never asked for financial help from anyone, however with this clear path to finally make a difference in my life I'm not ashamed in putting it out there. I have no idea if it will help but I'd be silly not to try...
Opportunities like this come once in a lifetime I have to give it everything...Perhaps one day I can do the same for someone else. :)
